  • Fly Fishing

What an art! Fly fishing takes patience. It takes calm. It takes observation. It takes grace. When I was young I loved to fly fish. You watch carefully what the fish are eating. You find a fly among your tackle that most looks like what the fish want. You carefully cast your fly into the midst of their feeding area. A good cast will make your fly look like a bug landing on the water..... I need to find a way back to those days, when instant results were not as important as the process.

The United States Revenue Cutter Service was established by Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton in 1790 as an armed maritime law enforcement service. Throughout its entire existence the Revenue Cutter Service operated under the authority of the United States Department of the Treasury. In 1915 the Service merged with the United States Life-Saving Service to form the United States Coast Guard. Look carefully at the logo. You will notice that the outer part is till used today by the US Coast Guard, while the inner part is now used by the US Customs Service.

He's a rigger, rower, swimmer, sailor, undertaker, And he's good at every one of 'em the same, And he risks his life for others in the quicksands and the breakers. And a thousand wives and mothers bless his name. He's an angel dressed in oilskins, he's a saint in a "sou'wester, "He's as plucky as they make, or ever can. He's a hero born and bred, but it hasn't swelled his head, And he's jest the U.S. Government's hired man.

I stayed home and watched the inauguration speech yesterday. I felt like I needed to see it live. What an unusual thing! I usually watch everything after the fact, so that I can speed through commercials and other unwanted drivel. Yet here was a moment I wanted to share with the world at the same time as the world. It was great! What a fantastic acceptance speech. What a bright future - If we all can just hold on and have faith. I want it to be true and maybe that's what you would call blissful naivety. The fact that I do not understand exactly how our new government will save us, gives me hope that they can. Our current national debt. is 10,632,836,925,874.55 There is estimated to be about 307,507,769 Americans. This means that we each owe about 34,803.82 Well, money is kind of tight for me right now - I'd like to help. This blog entry is my effort. This letter is written to any person out there who is ready to pay their part and has an additional surplus. If you wouldn't mind paying 69,607.64 to cover my end as well as your own, I would really appreciate it. Thank You in advance, Tony

Check out our CSN coffee mug! It seems that while the Confederate Military was known for having limited funds - This was not the case where their Navy was concerned. The CSN had as many as 4 designs of dinnerware used on their vessels. All of the designs used the same logo - An anchor with crossed cannon behind and wreathed in Magnolias. Below the logo was a simple slogan in French which loosely translated means "God helps those who help themselves." The dinnerware is currently known to have come in four colors (there may have been more) Gold for the Captain's Mess Blue for the Ward Room Mess Green for Steerage and Brown for the rest of the Crew.
